The book begins and ends with the same phrase, repeated 6 times: “I will…” In the beginning, the Lord is promising “I will…” in regards to destruction. In the end, the Lord is promising “I will…” in regards to restoration. In 1:12, the Lord punishes complacency. That’s one reason I’m so fearful of growing complacent.Continue reading “Zephaniah”

Work & The Mind
This week is a big week at work. Four days worth of meetings. Middle-aged men from around the world discussing big problems. Men who make big decisions and big money. The purpose of the meetings: to reduce flash in tires. Funny, eh? I thought so too. But then you consider that every vehicle around theContinue reading “Work & The Mind”
Obadiah
There are only a handful of one chapter books in the Bible. Obadiah is one of them. When the book is so short, it’s tough to find much to write about. So, I’ll provide a summary and thoughts on one specific idea. In a nutshell, Obadiah’s prophecy is about curses and blessings. Curses on EdomContinue reading “Obadiah”
Lawn Care: Curse or Blessing?

PeopleContinue reading “Lawn Care: Curse or Blessing?”
I Know You

That said, at the beginning of the book, there’s a little phrase from the Lord, which I’m sure many ofContinue reading “I Know You”
The Importance of Direction
Yesterday at church, I had an epiphany of sorts. The preacher was going through Acts 16, talking about how Paul obeyed the Spirit’s direction. Instead of heading north-northeast into Asia, the Spirit led him to enter Europe, which was west. North-northeast vs. west. That’s a drastic difference on a compass. Just think, if you liveContinue reading “The Importance of Direction”
God as Artist
Often I hear people talk about God as Creator. I agree. God is Creator. But when I hear people mention this, they immediately say God is all-powerful, all-knowing, sovereign. He spoke and the world came into existence. Again, I don’t disagree. I just think this is an incomplete picture, because if God is Creator, GodContinue reading “God as Artist”
