It’s been almost three weeks since my last post here. In the meantime, we’ve added a new member to our family, Myla Amore, our second daughter. You can see her and her sister Sevaeh Vashti below.
If you remember my last post, I talked about kicking bad habits and starting new ones. I was doing great following all of them, until that little Myla came along. No, it’s not her fault; it’s other people’s fault. See, I was eating healthy, avoiding sweets, doing push-ups and such. Then, after our return from the hospital, our church family started bringing meals by the home. Not only did they bring a main dish with two or three sides—they also brought dessert! Dreaded, delectable, devilish, delicious dessert. So I made an agreement with myself and my wife, saying, “The birth of our second child is a special occasion, and thus, I will, for the time these meals are brought to us, eat dessert: 1) because I can’t be rude and turn the people down or let the desserts go to waste, and 2) because these desserts had little hints of heaven in them.
I’m talking about bite size chocolate chip cookies, aka the most easily justifiable gluttony ever. I’m talking about brownies that melt in your mouth. I’m talking about warm cinnamon rolls, Amish friendship bread, and ooey-gooey cookie bars. Oh, praise the Lord for taste buds and those wonderful women who can cook!
BUT NOW, the celebration is over. Self-control is coming on the scene. And not only in regards to food, but with exercise as well. Spring time is almost here. Which means biking and hiking and reading and writing like a madman. I’ve started a new writing project already. You can check it at: http://thebiblescribe.wordpress.com
